Contacts offer a simple means of protecting
doors, windows and roller shutters. The principle
of operation is that one element, (usually fixed to
the non moving section), contains a small switch
encapsulated in a glass bottle, (called a magnetic
reed), and the other elements contain a magnet.
When the magnet is held within the operating gap
of the magnetic reed, the switch is held closed
and the circuit made. If the magnet is moved
outside the operating gap parameters, the circuit
opens and an alarm is generated.
