Identec Cyphertag® Hands Free Solutions

Cyphertag® is an advanced RFID hands free tagging system designed to provide fast and faithful identification of numerous tags simultaneously scanned moving through monitored portals. The technology offers numerous “on site” configuration options. Most common of these is the ability to track the direction each tag is moving through the portal. Integration of the Cyphertag® reader to any computer based access control or management system is simplified, with the reader emulating many existing technologies.

This document is intended to highlight the products versatility and demonstrate the different ways in which it may be used to solve applications other technologies cannot address. In all cases illustrations have been used as in real life most antenna components are hidden within the building fabric.

The Cyphertag® product has been designed to work in parallel with existing Prox and Mifare® technologies. The TV6 photo ID card holder is an ideal vehicle to merge the two ID technologies, enabling the Prox or Mifare® cards to be stored in a protective holder suitable for displaying the photo images in either landscape, or portrait orientation.

The Cyphertag® configurable loop aerial readers have a built in feature known as “timed scan idle” which turns the Cyphertag® transmitter off for a period to allow the Prox and Mifare® mullion readers to detect these cards when presented to their readers in the normal way.

The standard operating modes include:-

• Inward Twin: This is where each loop is operating in isolation from the next.
• MatchMaker: This version of the reader firmware enables tag pairing to be undertaken.

Direction Sensing Firmware options include:-

Control: Designed primarily for car park applications where “in” and “out” antennas  are mounted on a central island. The tag is reported from the first detection zone. On leaving the zone a timer is set to run for (xx) seconds, defined in the reader, enabling the tag to pass through the second detection zone without being reported.

APB: A single report is generated if a tag moves from one side of the door to the other. Two reports are generated if a tag passes through only one detection zone. The second report is a correction report to ensure the attendance flag on the system shows the tag on the right side of the door.

APB with Counter: Identical operation to the APB mode but the counter display increments and decrements for every tag entering and leaving through the portal being monitored.

Enhanced Control: Two reports are generated if a tag moves from one side of the door to the other. A single report is generated if a tag passes through only one detection zone.

Enhanced Tracking: A report is only generated when a tag moves from the first detection zone to the second zone. If a tag oscillates between the two detection zones and leaves from the first zone a second report is generated to correct the attendance flag on the system.

Safety: A report is generated only when a tag leaves the detection zone. This provides confirmation of which side of the barrier the tag holder was last seen.
